IT BusTools: Design is the ETS2/ETS3 auxiliary module for the graphical project planning of EIB systems. Design furthermore comprises a wide selection of very useful auxiliary functions (Macros). Design works directly with eib.db (ETS2/ETS3 database). Switching between ETS and Design is thus possible at any time in any direction without tiresome operations (export/import etc.) You can import your drawing data,
e.g. DXF, WMF files from the architects in Design and also process them further there. Design comprises a fully fledged graphics editor for vector graphics. By positioning device symbols on the drawing you obtain direct access to the device data.
You can assign group addresses, set parameters etc. as in ETS.
Design unites the comprehensiveness of plans with the functions of ETS project planning and adds important functions.
With IT BusTools: Design you can plan EIB directly in ground plan drawings. Frequently recurring tasks may be efficiently performed via macros .
The benefits of graphical project planning
ETS2 and ETS3 offer list-oriented EIB project planning functions. What benefits are supplied by the implementation of graphical project planning?
- Comprehensive plans facilitate project planning and commissioning and represent an element of professional documentation.
- EIB system limits (Lead lengths, signal run times, voltage drop etc.) are checked exactly. Problems may be easily pinpointed.
- ETS2 integration: IT BusTools: Design accesses the same product and project data as ETS2, no complicated import/ export procedures are necessary.
- The organisation of project documents is clearly structured with an explorer.
- Efficient operation: All project planning procedures such as the assignment of devices to areas and lines and linking to group addresses are performed graphically by positioning symbols and drawing lines.
- Extensive or recurrent tasks may be automated by macros ; you may configure your work environment to a considerable extent via macros and patterns .
Further Design functions:
- User-defined drawing templates (e.g. special format, company-specific planning header).
- External documents (e.g. text documents) may be saved together with the drawings in the project file.
- Graphic functions: self-defined layers, aligning etc.
- Special graphic functions for project planning: simplified drawing of bus and network lines, automatic labelling of device symbols etc.
The auxiliary functions
Design is much more than just a drawing program!
With the help of the auxiliary functions (macros) time-consuming project planning or recurrent tasks may be performed efficiently. In particular, user-friendly direct access to the ETS2 database makes the auxiliary functions very efficient. Here you will find a list of macros currently supplied with Design.
You may however also adapt existing macros to your requirements or create new ones. The macro editor permits the use of an efficient (VBA-like) macro language and thus access to the ETS - database objects. Simply contact us if you have any queries. We give you space to develop your ideas freely!
New features of version 1.3 (February 2001):
- Adaptation to the new ETS2 (database changes)
- Improved element blocking
- Detail improvements to the interface
- Error elimination also in macros
A free demo version with the following limitations is available:
- max. 5 hours usage period
- files created on other computers cannot be read
- no import of ETS 1.x-drawings
- no help for macros
- no manual
